I bought Undaunted: Overcoming Doubts + Doubters by Kara Goldin at the airport and finished it on my flights. That is my kind of souvenir: a story that makes the miles feel like mentorship.
It is the story of how Kara, with the support of her husband, built a flavored water brand out of a very personal "why." She wanted to lose 40 pounds and give up diet sodas. That desire did not stay small. It became Hint water, a company built on a simple, stubborn idea: people might actually want water that tastes like fruit, without the junk.
I had not heard of Hint water before. I am now a huge fan. What a great side effect from reading a book, right? You close the cover and your grocery list has changed.
I would recommend this to entrepreneurs and to young people ready to start their careers. Not because every reader will launch a beverage company, but because Kara shows what happens when a personal problem becomes a gift for other people.
